Questions for Study Groups & Self-study

Dancing the Dream

Week 1 - The Path of Initiation

East – Eagle – Yellow

Is every person alive really on a sacred path?  How does this

differ from the view of many spiritual traditions? (3)

What is the "Dream Weave" referred to by the author? (11)

What is a dark night of the soul?  (17) How might a "positive

thinking" approach interfere with its progress?

What is the one truth that can’t be denied, and why is it so? (40)

How is "being respectful" integral to spiritual growth? (47)

Discuss some wake-up calls you have experienced. (49)

Being of service is integral to the Path of Initiation. (52)  How

have you learned service?  Can you lead as well as follow,

as excited about following as you might be about leading?

The 1st "veil of separation" is forgetting the oneness of the

universe.  How is it dissolved or lifted? (33,55)

What does it mean to be a true spiritual warrior?  (59-61)

How does one learn to stay in balance? (62)

The fire of Spirit is dawning in me.  I, _______, seek the

truth that lives in me.

Dancing the Dream

Week 2 - The Path of Awakening

South – Coyote – Red

Continuing the path of transformation, different

ways of experiencing spiritual energy can arise. (69)  Discuss your

experience.

When do you experience the fight-or-flight impulse? (69)

When we do not trust someone, what might we be seeing? (70)

How is it that there is nothing outside of us that does not exist

inside of us? (74)

Anger is a normal human emotion.  What does the decision to vent

anger on another without cause do? (75)

Synchronistic joy means that we must become aware of what? (76)

What can keep us from seeing that we are extensions of the

principle of love? (77)

Why must we see how our belief systems create tunnel vision? (79)

The idea that life is happening to us without our consent or

participation is an illusion. (82)  How can that be so?

The 2nd "veil of separation" is forgetting the authentic identity of our

spiritual essence, and our connection to the Creator and all

Creation.  How is it dissolved or lifted? (33)  How might our

authentic identity be confused with spiritual “stardom”? (87)

I, _______, surrender my spirit to the sacred Presence, where my

heart’s purest desire unfolds.

Dancing the Dream

Week 3 - The Path of Healing

West – Bear – Black

The author equates the “path of healing” with “introspection and

listening.” Why? What are we healing? (91, 92)

How might viewing life as linear be misleading? (93)

Why might “enlightenment traps” appear more frequently on the

third and following paths than on the first two? (96)

When people choose to be of service, what must they facilitate? (97)

Why might one go “kicking and screaming” into this stage of

development, rather than flow into healing? (100)

Compare a “tidal wave” experience with a “dripping faucet.” (101)

How does fear create the boundary of our comfort zone, and how

does denial perpetuate it? (105, 109)

The 3rd "veil of separation" is created through the limitations of our sensory perceptions.  How is it dissolved or lifted? (33, 104))

Why is “counting one’s words” necessary for healing? (116)

What is the “viewpoint of personal authority?” (118)

Why must our personal opinion be expressed with care? (121)

How can laughter be a powerful healing agent? (123)

In wholeness of spirit and with courage of mind and heart,

I,  _______, embrace a new way to be.

Dancing the Dream

Week 4 - The Path of Wisdom

North – Buffalo Calf – White

What does a person’s Sacred Space include? (130)  How does that

inform a Sacred Point of View?

Why is “zipping the lip” a virtue? (133)  Discuss at length.

Did you get the joke?  Why does a Trickster character often

illuminate stories about wisdom? (133)

What does a Dark Night of the Soul provide on this path? (135)

How is a sense of humor related to spiritual wisdom? (136)

Is it helpful to re-title a Dark Night of the Soul a “pop quiz” or an

“enlightenment trap” or some other name? (138)

What can happen when you dishonor your own boundaries? (139)

How vital is the phrase “I don’t know” to wisdom? (141)

Have you ever been “blinded by being blessed out?” (142-145)

Have you ever lost a sense of being yourself by acquiescing to the

needs of others? (145)  Discuss.

What are the first three circles of relationship? (146)

Discuss how you experience dreams. (148)

The 4th “veil of separation" is created through our emotions.  How is

it dissolved or lifted? (33)  How might forgiveness, even in a

dream, play a role? (152)

What is a “zero-point rest place?” (159)

The path of Wisdom is the path I choose.  I, _____, share all

my wisdom with the intent to inspire.

Dancing the Dream

Week 5 - The Path of Unity

Above – Raven – Blue

Why is it necessary to become a “universal citizen?” (165)

Have you ever experienced a broadening of your “Sacred Point of

View” similar to the author’s? (169) Relate and discuss.

What are fourth-path enlightenment traps? (170) Discuss.

Have you experienced (or observed someone) having “already

arrived” at enlightenment? (173) What is spiritual arrogance?

Why are energetic boundaries necessary? (180)

Might the enlightenment trap described on page 182 (1st complete

paragraph) apply to Unity and its followers? How so?

How might a person who has paranormal spiritual experiences

appear to be mentally imbalanced? (187)

How might the dream of world peace become a reality? (191)

The 5th "veil of separation" is composed of our belief systems,

thoughts, mental computations, decisions, theories,

assumptions, and hypotheses about our experiences.  How

is it dissolved or lifted? (34)

Standing between human and divine, I, ______, listen to

the still, small voice within.

Dancing the Dream

Week 6 - The Path of Grounding

Below – Tree – Green

Why is it that each path “takes as long as it takes” to master? How

has this applied in your life or observation? (204)

How is an infinite, eternal perception different from a personal

point of view? (206)

How might a statement such as “I am a being of the light” prevent

further development? (208)

How important is the zero/rest/balance point, or “void,” to

being grounded? (210)

What does it mean to be accountable for everything? (217)

Why is moving beyond one’s comfort zone necessary? (221)

Why is it necessary to continue to develop our spiritual abilities and

skills, rather than “arrive” at a state of mastery? (225)

What does the author mean by “those who possess these abilities do

not need to talk about them?” (227)

The 6th "veil of separation" comes from shutting down our

perceptions of anything that is not solid.  How is it

dissolved or lifted? (34)

Bringing Spirit into earthly form, I, _____, learn to

embody the Oneness of the Infinite.

Dancing the Dream

Week 7 - The Path of Eternal Presence

Within – Heart – Purple

How is the Path of Eternal Presence the same as “being present

in the Now?” (235)

Why is it vital that spiritual development change our desires? (239)

How might being good-hearted draw us into unpleasant situations,

even on the Path of Eternal Presence? (239)

Why is simplicity a hallmark of a spiritual life? (240)

Why is unsolicited advice often a mirror game? (242)

Geologically-sensitive or prophetic abilities or beliefs are released,

rather than retained, in this path. Why? (244, 247)

What does “seeing time as an illusion” allow? (246) How can we

develop the ability to see time that way?

How does life “play hardball with our serenity?” (248)

Are worst-case scenarios really spiritual preparation? (250)

How is one’s spiritual journey comparable to a “cosmic soap

opera?” (251) What can we learn from viewing it that way?

The 7th "veil of separation" is created by our personal sense of

individuality and the rigid concepts that delineate human

identity.  How is it dissolved or lifted? (35)

The awakening dream of my life unfolds as I, _______,

transform my world according to the sacred pattern.
